Bankstown Library – MSB A & MSB B

The Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre building Construction involved the adaptive reuse of a portion of the existing Bankstown Town Hall Building as well as the construction of an attached library building. The works involved the demolition of the existing hall, to make way for the attached new library.

Construction of the library and knowledge centre originally began in mid-2011, however it was delayed in May 2012 after original construction firm Kell & Rigby collapsed. Watpac Construction took over the project in September 2012.

Southern Cross Switchboards were awarded the contract for the 2 Main Switchboards on the project by Nilsen (NSW) Pty Ltd in late February. There were 2 Main Switchboards provided by Southern Cross Switchboards on the project. The boards were designated as MSB A & MSB B.

MSB A distributes power to the Bankstown Library General Light & Power Distribution Boards as well as supplying the essential services such as the lifts and the fire services pumps. MSB A also distributes to the Mechanical Control Centre which serves as the control center for the Air Conditioning system in the library.  MSB B distributes power to the Paul Keating Park & the Council Chambers. Both boards were manufactured as Form 3bih construction and current rating capacity of 1200A.
